Hernando Land 'o Clowns

Fresh off out perfect rib score, Andy and I were anxious to hit the road to keep our mojo working and try to allay the mediocrity that is our pork butt at present.  Therefore, our journey led us to Hernando, MS.  As fate would have it, we camped next to Two Fat Drunks Cooking, of which they are both at any given time.  We also had a little time to clown around...

I first met Lonnie and the crew in Kennet Mo 3 years ago, cooking next to them at that time.  Bobby Muldoon was assigned to guard the Charter, which he did while joining the Purple Monsters as they polished whole thing off.  Last year at Kennett, Lonnie and I tied for first in pork butt (the halcion days if you will), with his team winning the coin toss.

Eddie was kind enough to show us our parking sign.

The Purple Beast in action.

Andy wasn't feeling the same vibe he had in Memphis, but a pact was made.  If either our team or the Purple Porkinators won, someone was gonna go streaking.  Andy started to feel better and was warming up to the idea!

As comps go, I thought our chicken was a little too spicey hot.  Andy was verplunct that our rib box wasn't a 180 box this time, but I thought it was rightious as always.  As for pork, we rolled out a good product, but I didn't think it at all worthy of a top ten call.  As for the brisket, at first cut, I thought it the best I had ever done, but tightend up a little after cutting it.

Getting some butts on Juanita (yeah, I know that sounds kinda funny).

I really liked our brisket box presentation.

As for the final results:  Andy secured us a check, and a 5th place trophy for ribs, while our brisket brought a 9th place call.  As for our pork?  Well, lets just say it was time to send in the clowns!

And as for our purple friends, they managed to finish one spot above us overall, no tiebreaker needed this time!

Perhaps a new profession is calling....
