Southern Krunk North to Chicago!

Southern Krunk in the Windy City

Southern Krunk had a mission to return to Chicago, for there was a title to defend!  Having won the innagural Windy City Rib Classic, we were stoked to come back to a comp whereby no electricity was allowed, a cave man comp if you will.

Upon arrival, we had the pleasure to tour a true Polish market.  We speak no polish, but the krunk in us helped us recognize certain meats.

So after sampling a few polish items, it was time for a few libations with Fred Grosse of Mojo Brick and Mojo Cubes on his rooftop in Chicago.  Felt a little like the Jefferson's, movin' on up!

Then we took a little tour of downtown Chicago.

The next morning, Andy had a refreshing Bloody Mary from an Irish Pub, as we dodged the rain before sojourning to our destination.

Then it was on to our site.  A great spot in the shadows of Soldier Field.  Somehow, we were set up next to Lagunita's Beer Truck, a friendly distraction if you will, but we were on a mission.

But we were determined.  We felt we had a great KCBS cook, but this ain't Kansas.  After no top ten calls, we thought we had tanked it.  A little peak of Andy's chicken...

Ironically, we had 3 11 place finishes and one 13th to merit us a 7th place overall, ergo, no skunking!  Nevertheless, great time, great people, and great organizers.  We would truly recommend this comp to anyone, and feel it has the potential to oneday take its place as one of the elite comps in the nation!

So as we enjoyed the view from our hotel, we bid adieu to Chicago until next year, now onto the Royal and the Jack!

Many thanks to Fred from Mojobricks for being an awesome host and sponsor!
